Bio

I have been a woodworker and “junk” collector for over 45 years. My career started in restoring fine antique furniture and custom woodworking where I developed my skills in various aspect of woodworking and design including specializing in techniques for wood coloring and aged finishes.

After 13 years, at age 43, I closed my business and went back to school, graduating from Yale University School of Medicine as a Physician Assistant. I practiced in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery, retiring after 20 years in 2015. Throughout my time in medicine I continued my woodworking and 4 years ago, prior to my retirement, I started Forge and Forest Creations concentrating on my interest in creating furniture from salvaged and re-purposed materials. The process of finding and creatively using these materials to make useful objects incorporates many of my interests and allows my imagination free reign, not limited by conventional tastes. It is also a great way to reduce the mountains of stuff I’ve collected over the years.

After being a lifelong resident of CT, my wife Kate and I retired to Cape Cod, Mass. I am currently showcasing my work at Saltwater Woodworks in Falmouth, Mass., where a variety of my creations can be seen and where I meet with clients regarding custom work.

I’m still collecting “junk” to the continuing  dismay of my wife.
